The Beatles Tribute Band
- Rubber Soul Biography:
The Twin Cities is home to one of the premier Beatles tributes in
the country – Rubber Soul. These four Beatle-crazed guys, fans
before anything, enjoy and share their mutual passion. The line-up
consists of Brian McGuire (Paul McCartney), Dwight Sheridan (George
Harrison), Roger Jaworski (Ringo) and Mike McDonough (John Lennon).
Dave Gores is a unique addition to the Fab Four on keyboards (ala
Billy Preston). He performs the predominant keyboard parts from the
Let It Be release and early Sgt Peppers/Magical Mystery Tour albums,
which are missing from most of the Beatle tributes on the circuit.
This uniquely separates Rubber Soul from the pack.
Rubber Soul covers the entire gamut,
breaking their show up into three sets, covering the early Beatles -
British invasion, the psychedelic era of Sgt Pepper/Magical
Mystery Tour and later Beatles, covering the “White Album” release
through “Abbey Road/Let it Be.” Their performance includes three
costume changes, as well as the use of authentic guitars, amps, etc,
which contribute to the overall presentation.
Brian McGuire (Paul) - relocated to the
Twin Cities from Appleton, WI in the early 1990s and has been with
Rubber Soul now going on three years. When Brian joined the combo,
the group was known as Beatles Forever, and had a long history of
touring the country. However, due to personal conflicts, the band
was reorganized and Rubber Soul was born. Coincidentally, “Rubber
Soul” and “Revolver” are Brian’s two favorite albums. Brian's
favorite song ever was “In My Life,” written by
John Lennon. Paul
McCartney’s approach to harmonies and medley and his simplicity in
songwriting, according to Brian, are unsurpassed.
Roger Jaworski (Ringo) - Call it karma
that brought this lad to this band. Born July 7th, he shares the
same birthday as Ringo. Both left handed, as well as sharing some of
the same facial attributes, namely an overly large beak. Call him
“Ringo” of the Midwest! Years of playing in rock and corporate
variety bands around the Midwest, he has learned how to play many
styles of music. This well-rounded education has been invaluable to
simulating Ringos’ style of drumming. His first awakening to the
“Beatles” was the mesmerizing sounds of the “Magical Mystery Tour”
album. As a young lad, he remembers countless hours of paging
through and listening to this album book ala “Blue Jay Way”. He
looks forward to emulating Ringos’ style in the new millennium via
“Rubber Soul The Tribute”.
Mike McDonough (John) - I started music
drumming in my dads polka band on their
breaks - we would play rock
and roll but the bands of the 60s drove them nuts - and forced me to
steal my older sisters Beatle records. Late 70s rolled around and I
picked up a bass guitar and started a singing career - playing rock
covers in the 80s. I traded Beatles for Bon Jovi - the 80s were a
real gas - I learned to emulate singers so I have no real voice of
my own. (Beside the Irish accent) 2001 - Jack Foster comes into my
life and introduces me to Brian and the Beatles Forever - that's
where I became John Winston Lennon for the first time. It took
almost a year to teach myself the guitar - but I had lots of help
from my predecessors. Now Rubber Soul lives through my voice and the
voices of my mates...
Dwight Sheridan (George) - Rated as one
of the top guitar players in the Twin Cities, Mr. Sheridan has
performed with a variety of local and national entertainers. This
lad executes the "George" position with the highest level of
proficiency which captures that authentic sound.
